We did a lot of research online until we found Chateau Saint Martory. We were blown away by how stunning the place was and it’s just under an hour away from the airport so accessible to our guests. After conversations with Owner Jean-François Delort and Angie we new it was perfect for our wedding. My husband loves Pokémon so the table names were illustrations of all his favourite characters. For lighting we used festoon lighting, candles and filled empty wine bottles with fairy lights. I downloaded a template from Etsy for signage and name cards, the designs were of white flowers and green foliage like the real flowers.
I organize Myself with the help of Chateau Venue Manager Angela Perry. Her support was invaluable!
My husband turned 30 the day of the wedding, so it was great he could celebrate this with all his family and friends. We all sang happy birthday to him and he loved having the singer from our home-town as a birthday surprise. We love french food so were very excited to try local caterer JC Sansuc's wedding menu and he did not disappoint! We had a goats cheese salad to start, duck breast rosace for the main meal, a chocolate dessert followed by a cheese platter. We had Pièce Montée as our wedding 'cake' and it was delicious!
My two favorites memories was seeing my nephew walk in to the room once we were all ready for the ceremony. It had just been girls and a bit chaotic all morning and seeing him all smartly dressed and happy to see us brought a tear to my eye. Anaïs captured the moment luckily! And The ceremony, we loved reading our own vows to one another. Our Celebrant Jacqueline Cale was fantastic, made us feel totally at ease and delivered a beautiful ceremony. My sister wrote and read a lovely poem, it was really personal to me and touching to all our guests. The speeches were great too! My cute niece also getting involved in our first dance and cutting of the cake also is a lovely memory from the day.
My advice, if you don’t have a wedding planner, OVER plan and organise so you can relax on the day. Every aspect of the wedding was detailed in a spreadsheet. Get willing family and friends involved with helping so planning and responsibilities don't seem too overwhelming. Lastly, take a step back from all the commotion on the day to appreciate and cherish your husband, family and friends.
To finish, a little word about our wedding photographer : I am so happy to have found Anaïs to be our photographer, she is incredibly personable, friendly and takes stunning photos. My husband and I are not very comfortable with having our photos taken but she made us feel more relaxed and actually have fun during the process! We had a practice shoot the day before and that was so helpful for us to feel more comfortable. She captured all the special and personal moments of the day without interruption. We will treasure the photos forever! "
